The Best Hamburger Soup Recipe
This hamburger potato soup is the best, bringing back fond memories of my mom making it every winter. She was the queen of turning simple ingredients into something truly special, and this soup was a family favorite. The addition of smoked meat added a rich, smoky depth, while her perfect blend of herbs and spices made every bowl burst with flavor. I can still picture us gathered around the table, savoring each spoonful as the warmth of the soup filled the room.
What I love most about this recipe is how easy it is to make, just like my mom’s version. She would toss everything into a pot and let it simmer, filling the house with those comforting aromas. Despite its simplicity, the soup was always packed with flavor and would always be better the next day!

Delicious! Will make again! I had everything but the turkey leg. Kids ate it and the leftovers. Thanks, Chavez!

So glad you loved it! I hope he is feeling better!
Thanks for the quick response. My husband is under the weather and wanted some soup. This was really delicious. Thanks for a great recipe.
I was going to make this soup, but you never say when to add the smoked turkey leg, only to remove it from the pot and shred. Shouldn’t it be boiled some before adding it to the pot? Thanks.
Hey, Helen! Thanks for that call out! You should add the turkey leg in step 4. I am using a smoked turkey leg, which is precooked, so I add it right to the pot and cook it for about 30 minutes in the soup (or until it’s tender enough to shred). I hope this is helpful! 🙂
