These homemade Strawberry Rice Krispie Treats are crispy, chewy, sweet, and infused with incredible strawberry flavor! Vibrant in color and easy to make, they’re perfect for Valentine’s Day, spring, summer, and everyday snacking.

Better Than Storebought Strawberry Rice Krispie Treats
I’m sure you’ve had Rice Krispie treats before, but this strawberry Rice Krispie treat recipe is truly something special. Inspired by the limited edition strawberry storebought Rice Krispies, every bite is infused with fruity flavor and extra marshmallows for pockets of sweet, gooey deliciousness.
My secret to the vibrant color and out-of-this-world flavor is the use of freeze-dried strawberries! I infuse the ground powder into the bars, add extra pieces for texture, and top the treats with an extra sprinkle of strawberry pieces for an added layer of flavor and a picture-worthy appearance.
Each bite offers a satisfying crunch with incredible sweetness and a satisfying chewy consistency. Store-bought bars could never compete!

Recipe Ingredients
Butter: I recommend using unsalted butter. It adds rich flavor to the base of the treats.
Marshmallows: A must in any Rice Krispies recipe! These add sweetness and act as a “glue,” holding the bars together. I prefer to use mini marshmallows as they melt faster and more evenly than larger sizes.
Vanilla Extract: Use pure vanilla to add depth and enhance the flavor of the rest of the ingredients.
Salt: Just a pinch balances the sweetness.
Dried Strawberries: Adds the best strawberry flavor and bold color to these strawberry rice krispies treats.
Crispy Rice Cereal: I use the brand name Rice Krispies, but any plain crispy rice cereal will work.
How to Make The Best Homemade Strawberry Rice Krispie Treat Recipe
Step 1. Grease or line a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper. Then, add the dried strawberries to a gallon plastic bag, and crush them with a rolling pin until a fine powder forms. Alternatively, you can grind the strawberries in a food processor.

Step 2. Next, add the butter to a large pot or Dutch oven, and heat it over medium-low heat until completely melted. Next, measure 2 cups of the mini marshmallows and set them aside (these will be added later in Step 4). Once melted, lower the temperature to low, and add the marshmallows you didn’t set aside, vanilla extract, and salt. Then, use a non-stick spatula to stir the mixture until the marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

Step 3. Once melted, remove the pot from the heat, and stir in the crushed strawberries until well mixed. Then, add the rice crispy cereal, and gently stir until it’s completely combined and coated with the marshmallow mixture.

Step 4. Next, add the remaining mini marshmallows to the pot. Then, add a handful of extra crushed strawberries for extra texture and a bolder strawberry flavor. Stir until the marshmallows are just combined. Be sure to move quickly, and avoid overmixing! We don’t want the marshmallows to melt into the mixture.

Step 5. Transfer the cereal mixture to the prepared baking dish, and press it into an even layer. Add a bit of crushed strawberries to the top of the treats, and gently press them down so they adhere to the treas. Pro tip. Use parchment paper to press down the treats for easy cleanup. Alternatively, you can put some nonstick spray on your hands, and gently press the treats down.

Step 6. Let your strawberry rice krispie treats cool and set. Then, slice them into equal-sized bars, and enjoy!

Tips & Tricks
- Use fresh Rice Krispies cereal for this recipe. Stale cereal will result in dense, tough treats.
- Make sure you cook the marshmallows on low heat to ensure you have a chewy treat. Trust me. It’s not worth cranking up the heat to get the mixture to melt more quickly!
- Make sure you remove the pot from the heat as instructed in step 5. When you add your additional mix-ins, you don’t want your treats to be too hot. Otherwise, the additional marshmallows will melt completely, and you won’t have pools of gooey marshmallows like in the photos.
- When you add the marshmallows in step 7, do not over-mix, as too much mixing completely melts the added marshmallows, which we don’t want.
- When your treats are ready to be transferred, gently press the mixture into your prepared dish to limit crushing your cereal.
- The density of the treats is determined by how much you press the cereal in the casserole dish. If you press them down a lot, you will have denser treats. So, be careful to press down just enough for the treats to hold their shape.

- Next, add the remaining 2 cups of the mini marshmallows to the pot and, to add a little extra texture and strawberry flavor, add a handful of crushed strawberries and stir until combined. Stir the mixture until the marshmallows are just combined but be sure to move quickly and not over mix, as we don’t want the marshmallows to melt into the mixture (we want the marshmallow pieces to be somewhat intact to create beautiful marshmallow pools.

Add a bit of crushed strawberries to the top of the treats and gently press them down to adhere to the treats. Pro Tip: Use parchment paper to press down the treats for easy clean up. These were 11/10. I shared them with my neighbors and the response was “STRAWBERRY RICE KRISPIE TREATS”?! It is such a fun take on basic ones and I can’t wait to make them again. Thank you!
So glad you liked these, Ashley! This is a fun (and tasty) recipe!
I loved how easy these treats are to make and how delicious they tasted. I brought them to a potluck and they were a big hit. I had several co-workers ask for the recipe. I can’t wait to try them again and add some mini chocolate chips.
